Gentle laser therapy for haemorrhoids in Vienna

Laser treatment for haemorrhoids
Minimally invasive treatment in Vienna
Modern laser therapy offers highly effective and particularly tissue-sparing treatment options for sensitive areas. Especially in cases such as haemorrhoids or anal fistulas, it is important to choose a therapy that acts precisely while minimising stress on the surrounding tissue.
We use state-of-the-art laser technology of the latest generation, allowing us to offer a minimally invasive treatment tailored to your individual situation and supporting a fast recovery.
A major advantage of laser therapy is that it acts directly on the affected tissue without the need for larger incisions or extensive surgical procedures. As a result, symptoms can be treated effectively while pain, healing time, and limitations in daily life are significantly reduced.
In the following, we present two proven procedures used in our office:

LHP® for haemorrhoids
(Laser HaemorrhoidoPlasty)
LHP® is a gentle treatment for advanced haemorrhoids performed under appropriate anaesthesia. It enables endoluminal laser coagulation of both segmental and circumferential haemorrhoidal cushions. As the laser energy is delivered directly into the centre of the haemorrhoidal tissue, the haemorrhoid can be treated according to its size without damaging the anoderm or mucosa.
No foreign materials (such as staples) are used, and the risk of stenosis is eliminated. Healing is excellent, as no incisions or sutures are required, unlike in conventional surgery.

FiLaC® for anal fistulas
(Fistula-tract Laser Closure)
FiLaC® removes the fistula tract as gently as possible without damaging the sphincter muscle. The flexible, radially emitting FiLaC® fibre is precisely positioned using a guiding beam and delivers energy along the course of the fistula tract. This highly efficient energy delivery system ensures optimal use of the applied laser energy.
With this minimally invasive laser therapy, the sphincter muscle is preserved during the treatment of anal fistulas, keeping all muscular structures intact as much as possible and thereby helping to avoid incontinence.
More recently, FiLaC® has also been used in the treatment of pilonidal sinus (sacral dermoid cysts). In this indication as well, laser therapy achieves excellent healing results with minimal wound surfaces and very good cosmetic outcomes.

Frequently asked questions about laser therapy for haemorrhoids
- What are haemorrhoids and when should they be treated?
Haemorrhoids are vascular cushions in the anal region that can cause symptoms such as itching, bleeding, or pain when enlarged. Treatment is advisable if symptoms persist or worsen.
- How does laser therapy for haemorrhoids work?
In laser therapy, energy is precisely delivered into the affected tissue. This causes the haemorrhoids to shrink from within, without the need for incisions or major surgical intervention.
- Is the treatment painful?
Laser treatment is considered particularly gentle. During the procedure, appropriate anaesthesia is used, so the treatment is generally perceived as causing little pain.
- What are the advantages of laser therapy compared to conventional methods?
Compared to conventional surgery, no incisions or sutures are usually required. This makes the treatment gentler, promotes faster healing, and reduces the risk of complications.
- How long does healing take after the treatment?
Recovery time is usually shorter than with conventional surgical procedures. Many patients are able to return to their daily routine quickly.
- Is the treatment discreet?
Yes, the entire treatment is carried out discreetly at our office in Vienna in a private setting. We place great importance on providing trustworthy and personal care.
- When should I have an evaluation?
If you notice symptoms such as bleeding, pain, or itching in the anal area, you should seek medical evaluation promptly. Early treatment is often particularly straightforward.
